With over 25 years of experience in education, Lisa Upper is a dedicated and passionate educator committed to helping students, families, and staff thrive. Her career has spanned roles from classroom teaching to media center director to school leadership, including schools ranging in size from 100 to more than 600 students. Throughout her journey, she has remained focused on creating supportive, engaging learning environments where every child feels valued and inspired to grow.

Lisa brings a strong background in instructional leadership, curriculum development, and building positive school cultures. She believes in the power of relationships and works collaboratively with teachers, families, and the community to ensure student success. Her approach blends high expectations with a deep understanding of individual student needs, fostering both academic achievement and personal development.

Known for her warm and approachable style, Lisa is passionate about empowering others—whether mentoring teachers, supporting families, or encouraging students to reach their full potential. She is committed to lifelong learning and continuously seeks innovative ways to enhance educational experiences for all learners.

 

A long-time educator, Mrs. Upper brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and heart to her work in education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, along with two Master’s degrees—one in School Administration and another in Library and Information Science—reflecting her deep commitment to both leadership and lifelong learning.

Mrs. Upper's publications and presentations include Whence Cometh My Help? Finding and Developing Excellent Classical Christian Teachers (ACCS 'Classis' Magazine) and Integrating the Curriculum, Making It All Fit (Association of Classical Learning Annual Conference.)

 

In her free time Mrs. Upper acts in community theater, enjoys different cultural experiences, and travels whenever she can. She has been married for thirty-four years and lives in Greensboro. She has three married children, three grandchildren, and an orange cat named Cheeto.
