Lakeside Charter Academy will provide all students with the opportunity to experience a focused and coherent curriculum through the Core Knowledge Sequence by E.D. Hirsch. This sequence emphasizes an academic foundation of a content rich curriculum that integrates skills and standards in a spiraling format.
We believe in providing innovative, challenging, and rigorous academics in a safe, nurturing environment for children through objective achievement standards driven by proven curriculum, empowered teachers and constructive parental involvement in a true community setting. Lakeside Charter serves children in the community from Kindergarten to 8th grade.
The fullest development of our students will occur through our pillars of scholarship, leadership and citizenship. These pillars include a challenging comprehensive academic program that can be differentiated for a large range of competencies. Our leadership curriculum is
designed to develop confident and capable students that will participate in community service, civics instruction and focus student responsibility on becoming productive citizens in the community.

WHAT IS A CHARTER SCHOOL?
Charter schools are tuition-free public schools of choice, authorized by the State Board of Education and operated by non-profit Board of Directors. They are incorporated as 501c3 non-profit organizations. North Carolina public charter schools are funded by State and local tax dollars. Each charter school shall allow enrollment from any child that resides in the State of North Carolina. Each school has an open enrollment period, if applications exceed allowed student enrollment a lottery is conducted by the school. NC Public Charter Schools shall not discriminate in their admission process.
NC Public Charter Schools operate with freedom from many of the regulations that govern district public schools, however; charter schools are held accountable by the Office of Charter Schools through the State assessment and accountability system. Charter Schools must demonstrate academic and financial success.
