Testing at Lakeside

At Lakeside Charter Academy, our top priority is providing the best education for our students. Our K-8 curriculum is comprehensive and covers an extensive range of competencies. While standardized testing is mandatory, we believe that a teaching style covering a wide range of competencies and sensitive to each student's unique ability is superior.

Standardized Tests Don’t Capture Students’ True Ability

Required testing will start at the end of May. Because we strive to develop young minds beyond traditional, testing-based education limits, we would forego these tests if we could. What is most important for our parents and K-8 learners to understand is that our love for education – and educating – surpasses the supposed purpose of these tests. A standardized test score does not fully reflect a student's ability, knowledge, talents or aptitudes.

Lakeside teachers carefully monitor each students' progress and challenges every day. We evaluate each learner through individual assessments and fine-tune our approach to ensure our unique students reach full potential. As a small, close-knit, tuition-free public school serving grades K-8, Lakeside frequently communicates with parents when learning gaps are identified and proposes solutions to help each student progress.
